I’ll say it again. DO NOT LOOK AT ARTICLES OR VIDEOS OF THE INAUGURATION. That’s how you get his “ratings” down. Especially for Trump’s presidency - he is a creature who thrives off of likes/retweets/views. Don’t give that to him.
And quite honestly, some of the absolute best writing I’ve ever read, I’ve read in fandom. People are amazing.
I’ve been reading fanfic around 16 years now (holy moly) and what it has given me, what the writers create is a miracle. They pour their love and devotion and creativity into these fics and out come masterpieces. I’ve laughed, cried, giggled and gasped countless times over countless fics. And all the fingers of my hand wouldn’t be enough to list all the fics that feel like coming home when I read or most often reread them.
for context: adam rippon is one of the most visible gay men in the competitive figure skating scene right now. at the grand prix final this year he ended his short program with this delicious “talk to the hand” pose. said short program was choreographed by jeffrey buttle, who is also gay. jeff buttle incidentally has been referenced in official YOI art.

i legit once sat on a bus with a friend and there were two guys holding hands and being all lovey-dovey and she was like “aw!! so cute that they’re gay i love gays!!” and i was already like “bitch tf?” and THEN she topped it off with “yah idk gays are really cute but idk.. if it were two girls i think i would feel really weird tho, ya know?” i called her out and she literally just went “whatever, nvm” and changed the subject (??????)
